VBallScore — Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary: You can score and watch games without an account. We collect only what we need to run the service — and we never sell your data. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Public matches are visible to anyone by design.

1. Who we are

VBallScore ("we," "us") operates the website and app at vballscore.com (the "Service"). For privacy questions, contact info@vballscore.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information — only if you sign in. When you use Google or Facebook to log in, we receive your name, email address, and a provider account ID. If you use an email sign-in link, we collect your email address. If you set up a passkey, we store a public-key credential tied to your account; we never receive your biometrics or device PIN.
Match content — team names, scores, venue name and location, match titles, and anything else you enter while scoring or running a tournament. Matches set to public are visible to anyone.
Location — the location of a venue you choose (to place it on the map). If you grant permission, your device's location is used once to center the map near you; we do not continuously track or store your location.
Live video — when you broadcast, video is streamed live to viewers and is not stored by us. If you record a match, the recording is saved on your own device — it is not uploaded to us.
Messages — in-match chat and direct messages are relayed through our servers and may be retained and reviewed for safety and moderation.
Technical and usage data — IP address, browser/device information, and basic activity logs, used to run the Service, prevent abuse, rate-limit, and handle reports.
Payment information — paid features are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive a payment confirmation and a Stripe customer/payment identifier so we can deliver what you bought and support your purchase.

3. How we use information

To provide and operate the Service (scoring, live scoreboards, discovery, tournaments, video).
To process payments and deliver paid features.
To keep the Service safe — preventing abuse, enforcing our Terms of Service, and acting on reports.
To communicate with you (e.g., sign-in links, receipts, and important notices).

4. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the Service:

Service providers — Cloudflare (hosting and infrastructure), Stripe (payments), and an email provider (sign-in links and notices).
Login providers — Google or Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them. You can also sign in with an email magic-link or a passkey, which does not share your data with a third-party login provider.
Public match data — matches you mark public, and information you broadcast, are visible to anyone by design.
Legal — when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember preferences (such as your team-side layout and reaction settings). We do not use advertising trackers.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to run the Service and meet legal, accounting, and security obligations; routine logs are rotated. You can ask us to delete your account data (see below).

7. Your choices and data deletion

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data — including deletion of your account and the data associated with it — by emailing info@vballscore.com from the address on your account, or by following the step-by-step instructions on our Delete your data page. We will verify and honor valid requests. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights; you may exercise them using the same contact.

8. Children & minors

VBallScore is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. You must be 13 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Players who appear in matches. Volleyball is played by minors, so a player — including a minor — may appear in a match that an adult (a parent, guardian, coach, or scorekeeper) chose to score, record, or broadcast and confirmed they have permission to share. We make reasonable efforts to limit exposure: public match views show the match, score, and team — not a roster of named individuals; live video is not stored by us; recordings stay on the recording device.

Opt out & removal. A player — or a parent or guardian on their behalf — can opt out and ask us to remove the information we hold about that player (their directory entry, account, synced highlight-chapter data, and public listing) by emailing info@vballscore.com. We will verify and honor valid requests. We can only remove what we hold or serve: a recording another person saved to their own device never reached our servers, and we do not store match video centrally, so there is little for us to retain.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
